BAMBI

Hubert Burda Media's media and television award "BAMBI" is regarded as the German equivalent of the Hollywood Oscar.

Strassacker has been responsible for the production of the BAMBI for more than five decades. Each deer is carefully handcrafted at Strassacker. Numerous steps are necessary before the original model becomes a bronze work of art.

Each BAMBI is unique, as the mould is made by hand and smashed after the bronze has cooled.

The production of the BAMBI begins with the creation of a negative silicone mould. Special green wax is then poured into this "hollow" silicone mould. The cooled and hardened wax fawn is then dipped into a ceramic mass. This creates a kind of "coat" that becomes a solid ceramic mould in the kiln. The wax, on the other hand, melts. Liquid bronze at a temperature of 1,250 degrees is then poured into this hollow shell. After cooling down, the deer is freed from the ceramic shell and a bronze raw casting is obtained. It is only through the precise precision work of the chaser that the final form is created from the blank after numerous and elaborate production steps, which finally acquires its inimitable lustre in the electroplating bath, completing the artistic work.

In accordance with Burda's wishes for a modern BAMBI, the sculptors in our studio designed a new, modern, dynamic version of the BAMBI, which is nevertheless based on tradition.
